Freedom Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 55 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 61 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $2,750 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $1,800 • Waste removal and skip hire: $530 • Tools and protective gear: $420 Thanks for reading all this.

  • Take care, Randall. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I'm in nursing myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.

    • Sending strength, Randall. Shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Athens so I could bring a meal. Love from Accra.

      • Wishing you the best, Randall. Hope you get there. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of San Diego
