Plant 4,750 native trees around the Lotus wetland in Hubballi
Volunteers are restoring the Lotus wetland in Hubballi; $300 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
Anywhere in the world781 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 112 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 133 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $120
• Native saplings and stakes: $120
• Waste removal and skip hire: $60
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Hang in there, Madhavan. Your post was clear and honest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings.
thanks for sharing this, Madhavan. I hope things turn around soon. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Wishing you peace, Madhavan. Looking forward to the next update. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
