Plant 4,250 native trees around the Freedom riverbank in Bordeaux
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Freedom riverbank needs $2,000 for saplings and equipment.
🇫🇷 France1,407 views
The Freedom riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 86 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 67 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $600
• Tools and protective gear: $330
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,070
Thanks for reading all this.

Keep going, Hamza. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Blessings.
Praying for you. More neighborhoods should do this. Sent it to 27 people at work. Thinking of Bordeaux.
