Fort Portal
Nyambura is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a master's in public health at Fort Portal Polytechnic, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $250. The registrar has said Nyambura can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Nyambura has a distinction average, and an academic advisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Nyambura would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Nyambura isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Fort Portal Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $250 goes: • Exam and lab fees: $35 • Textbooks and materials: $30 • Final term tuition: $185 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - John

  • this could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Negombo.
