My ride-share car: Julia's only way to earn a living
Julia drives for a living in Laredo, and a broken clutch assembly has stopped all income for 5 weeks.
🇺🇸 United States749 views
I make my living with my ride-share car. 5 weeks ago the clutch assembly failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $2,050. Without the vehicle I earn nothing.
I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask.
I support my younger brothers and sisters. Before the breakdown I worked nine hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next six months if I can just get the vehicle working.
I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here.
All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• clutch assembly replacement (parts): $1,200
• Labor charges: $310
• Road tax and insurance renewal: $390
• Towing and inspection: $150
Thank you for reading my story.

This could happen to any of us. Please keep us posted. Love from Derry.
Thinking of you, Julia. Hope the shop reopens soon
best of luck. Small businesses are the heart of Laredo. Hope you're open again soon. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Edmonton.
so sorry you're going through this, Julia. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Wish I lived closer to Hialeah so I could bring a meal.
