I'm caring for me, who's 86. After worsening Parkinson's disease Letícia can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Letícia desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Letícia worked all of her life as a factory worker, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $300 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $105
• Medication and prescriptions: $120
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $75
