I'm caring for my mother, who's 90. After a diagnosis of dementia Josefina can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Josefina desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Josefina worked all of her life as a schoolteacher, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $6,450 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $5,500
• Medication and prescriptions: $380
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $330
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $240

What exactly is the $6,450 for?
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. part-time carer (six months) comes first ($5,500) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks, that means a lot.
