Valentina was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in December. The oncology team at Latina University Hospital has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in February. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Valentina is 58, worked as a nurse until December, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Latina University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $7,050 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $480
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,300
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,850
• Transport to Latina University Hospital: $420
