Kadıköy
Şule was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in July. The oncology team at Kadıköy Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Şule is 55, worked as a tailor until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Kadıköy Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,700 goes: • Transport to Kadıköy Cancer Centre: $250 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $75 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,000 • Household costs while unable to work: $375 Glad we found this place.

Updates from Ecrin

  1. Update from Kadıköy: I made the first payment toward household costs while unable to work. We're at 7% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I hope October is when things finally get easier.

    • How is Şule doing now?

      • best of luck. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Love from Embakasi.

        • Hang in there, Ecrin. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. All the best.

          • Best of luck. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Lagos but we're thinking of you

            • You're not alone. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best.
