I'm caring for my father, who's 89. After a stroke last September Gilbert can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Gilbert desperately wants to stay at home. I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer. Gilbert worked all of his life as a seamstress, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $850 goes: • Part-time carer (eight months): $710 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $40 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $100 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
