Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Sunday from the back of a community center. We started with 21 families, and now we feed 231 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 51% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Miami market and keep every receipt.
Each $55 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $210
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,500
• Baby formula and diapers: $340
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
