Feed 227 families each week at the Second Helping in San Jose
Leonardo runs a volunteer pantry feeding 227 families; this fund restocks shelves for the summer.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Monday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 227 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 53% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the San Jose market and keep every receipt.
Each $60 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $820
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $680
• Refrigeration and electricity: $150
Thank you for reading my story.

Hang in there, Leonardo. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in.
best of luck, Leonardo. Shared this with my family. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Praying for you. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
Rooting for you, Leonardo. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My neighbor in Kikuyu donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
