I'm caring for my mother, who's 78. After a stroke last August Eliana can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Eliana desperately wants to stay at home. I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer. Eliana worked all of her life as a seamstress, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $3,200 goes: • Part-time carer (six months): $2,300 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $380 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $520 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Everly

  • Take care. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Greetings from Nairobi.

    • So sorry you're going through this, Everly. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Blessings

      • thinking of you. Shared this with my family. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
