Clean air and water for Cox's Bazar: restoring Freedom Beach
A neighborhood-led restoration of Freedom Beach needs $105 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world1,493 views
Freedom Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This November, 95 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 130 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $105 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $15
• Native saplings and stakes: $85
• Tools and protective gear: $5
Thanks for reading all this.

So sorry you're going through this, Joy. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care.
Hope it all works out. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Blessings
