I'm caring for my father, who's 82. After worsening Parkinson's disease Riccardo can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Riccardo desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Riccardo worked all of his life as a seamstress, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $3,750 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $2,750
• Medication and prescriptions: $550
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $280
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $170
