I'm caring for my father, who's 81. After a stroke last August Lucas can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Lucas desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Lucas worked all of his life as a factory worker, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $5,000 goes:
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $400
• Part-time carer (four months): $4,000
• Medication and prescriptions: $600
