I'm caring for my father, who's 86. After the death of his spouse Liang can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Liang desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Liang worked all of his life as a shopkeeper, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $5,100 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $840
• Part-time carer (four months): $4,050
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $210

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Liang.
It's all in the list in the story. medication and prescriptions is the big one at $840, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Fair thing to want to know.
