I'm caring for me, who's 95. After worsening Parkinson's disease Alice can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Alice desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Alice worked all of her life as a carpenter, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $5,850 goes:
• Part-time carer (four months): $4,600
• Medication and prescriptions: $480
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $240
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $530
