A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in São Paulo
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a youth football pitch - we need $650 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,695 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 227 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $650 goes:
• Materials: $460
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $85
With deep gratitude,
Marcos
