A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Kawasaki
A community-led a youth football pitch at the Union health centre yard that will serve 343 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $440, and the remaining cost is $750.
It will serve about 343 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $750 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $240
• Safety equipment and signage: $260
• Tools hire and delivery: $250
I hope life is good to you.

Thinking of you, Masaru. More neighborhoods should do this. Love from Shinjuku.
