A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Mendoza
Volunteers in Mendoza are raising $600 for a solar-powered water pump at the old Freedom bus depot.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Freedom bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $600.
It will serve about 208 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $600 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $130
• Materials: $425
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

- Changed my perspective
I was going through a tough time and this person's support was invaluable. They didn't judge, just helped. That kind of genuine compassion is rare these days.

So sorry you're going through this, Armando. Shared it with a few friends. Put this on a community board in Southampton this morning.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Da Nang but we're thinking of you.
Hang in there. Shared it with a few friends. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Mendoza
