A sensory garden for children with autism for the Baobab community hall: help our neighbors in Burnaby
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the Baobab community hall that will serve 493 neighbors.
🇨🇦 Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada66 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $940, and the remaining cost is $800.
It will serve about 493 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $800 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $230
• Tools hire and delivery: $340
• Safety equipment and signage: $230
With deep gratitude,
Jing
