For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $700.
It will serve about 420 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $700 goes:
• Materials: $550
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $25
• Tools hire and delivery: $80

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Madushan.
Sure. The biggest one is materials, $550. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.
