Newcastle
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Jacaranda bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,200. It will serve about 146 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,200 goes: • Materials: $1,550 • Safety equipment and signage: $400 • Permits and inspections: $250 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Jing

  1. Quick update: $109 raised so far (5%). I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Update from Newcastle: I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. We're at 0% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
