A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Bogotá

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer community hall, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $240, and the remaining cost is $900. It will serve about 204 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $900 goes: • Materials: $730 • Permits and inspections: $65 • Tools hire and delivery: $105 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - José
