Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Awka
Abubakar runs a volunteer pantry feeding 169 families; this fund restocks shelves for the school holidays.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Tuesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 12 families, and now we feed 169 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 43% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Awka market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $360 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $220
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $90
• Baby formula and diapers: $45
• Refrigeration and electricity: $5
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
