Weekly meals for families and seniors in Sacramento
The the Second Helping pantry in Sacramento is running low just as demand rises; $2,300 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Monday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 355 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 43% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Sacramento market and keep every receipt.
Each $60 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,300 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $960
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $430
• Baby formula and diapers: $770
• Refrigeration and electricity: $140
