The Community Pantry pantry in Pretoria is running low just as demand rises; $900 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Monday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 16 families, and now we feed 208 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 43% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Pretoria market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $900 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $490
• Refrigeration and electricity: $75
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $335

Small update. $524 so far, the plan for refrigeration and electricity is now scheduled.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($455 in total) I made the first payment toward rice, beans, flour and oil. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
