Tomer was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in February. The surgeon at Tel Aviv General Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,400, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $850 short. my husband has been in and out of Tel Aviv General Hospital since February. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,400 is more than we can find. While we wait, Tomer struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Tomer won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $850 goes: • Post-operative medication: $220 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $310 • Travel and lodging for the family: $320 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
