I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in social work at the Irapuato Institute of Technology, and I'm one term away from graduating. I have worked as a tutor to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $1,150. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.8 average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Irapuato Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $1,150 goes: • Textbooks and materials: $70 • Exam and lab fees: $90 • Final term tuition: $990 Every share and every dollar helps.

  • Thinking of you and your family, Soledad. Good luck with the exams, you've got this. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Sheffield

    • Good luck, Soledad. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn.
