Mercy is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a diploma in hospitality management at Naivasha Community College, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a library assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $400.
The registrar has said Mercy can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Mercy has a 3.8 average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Mercy would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Mercy isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $400 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $30
• Outstanding tuition balance: $350
• Textbooks and materials: $20

hope it all works out, Beatrice. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Sent it to 23 people at work. Love from Leeds.
hope this works out for you. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Mesa
Rooting for you, Beatrice. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry
Stay strong, Beatrice. Study hard! Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
