Lucy is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in civil engineering at the El Paso Institute of Technology, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,000. The registrar has said Lucy can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Lucy has a distinction average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Lucy would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Lucy isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $3,000 goes: • Exam and lab fees: $125 • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,600 • Textbooks and materials: $275 Thanks for being kind about this. - Stephanie
