I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in civil engineering at the Manila Institute of Technology, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a warehouse packer to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $850.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a first-class average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $850 goes:
• Final term tuition: $550
• Textbooks and materials: $30
• Outstanding tuition balance: $270
I hope life is good to you.

is there anything that isn't money that would help Jerome?
Thank you. If you're in Manila I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. It helps to be asked.
Hope things get better soon. Your post was clear and honest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
