Toru is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a diploma in hospitality management at Setagaya Polytechnic, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $2,500.
The registrar has said Toru can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Toru has a distinction average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Toru would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Toru isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $940
• Final term tuition: $1,150
• Exam and lab fees: $210
• Textbooks and materials: $200

Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in Thane this morning. God bless.
Hope it all works out. Hope this works out for you. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. All the best.
Shared it with a few friends. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Thane!
Keep going, Satomi. Your post was clear and honest. Thinking of Setagaya.
