The Pioneer wetland cleanup and restoration: help our volunteer crew
Help us clean and replant the Pioneer wetland before the November planting window closes.
🇲🇽 Guanajuato, Mexico1,339 views
The Pioneer wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 78 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 54 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $800 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $160
• Waste removal and skip hire: $185
• Native saplings and stakes: $455
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Best of luck. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mariana.
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. tools and protective gear is the biggest at $160.
Take care, Mariana. Hope this works out for you. My neighbor in Iztapalapa donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Celaya.
Praying for you, Mariana. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier
Rooting for you, Mariana. This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. All the best
