The Baobab vacant lot needs a playground - Galina's neighborhood project
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a playground - we need $700 for materials.
🇺🇦 Odesa Oblast, Ukraine1,898 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $700.
It will serve about 347 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $700 goes:
• Materials: $630
• Tools hire and delivery: $40
• Permits and inspections: $30
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Wishing you peace, Galina. Hope you get there. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Take care.
You're not alone, Galina. This could happen to any of us. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Odesa
rooting for you. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like
Good luck, Galina. I hope things turn around soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Cartagena.
