Greyson was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in September. The surgeon at St. Louis University Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $5,100 short. my son has been in and out of St. Louis University Hospital since September. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Greyson struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Greyson won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $5,100 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,150 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $430 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $1,900 • Physiotherapy sessions: $620 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
