Stop the eviction: 5 months of rent for Cristina's family in San Jose
A termination letter arrived last week. Cristina needs $3,600 to clear the arrears and stay housed in San Jose.

Following a long illness in the family, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a termination letter was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,600.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, we must leave.
I have two young children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $3,600 goes:
• Rent arrears (5 months): $2,250
• Late fees and court costs: $290
• Utilities in arrears: $300
• First month of rent as a buffer: $760
I hope life is good to you.

Sending strength, Cristina. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Blessings
