When my hours were cut in half in February, Wahyu fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a termination letter was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $650. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by June, the family must leave. There are a toddler and a baby at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Wahyu has started working weekend shifts, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $650 goes: • Utilities in arrears: $35 • Rent arrears (3 months): $520 • First month of rent as a buffer: $95 Thanks for reading all this.
