Stop the eviction: 3 months of rent for Daniel's family in Ikeja
The closure of the factory left Daniel short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.
🇳🇬 Nigeria1,691 views
Following a long illness in the family, Daniel fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Friday a notice to vacate was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $700.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by May, the family must leave.
There are a toddler and a baby at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Daniel has started working weekend shifts, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $700 goes:
• Rent arrears (3 months): $500
• Late fees and court costs: $30
• Utilities in arrears: $30
• First month of rent as a buffer: $140
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Kampala but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Kampala!
Thanks for sharing this. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Thinking of Ikeja.
