In June I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. My oncology team at Ciudad de México Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in September. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 37, I worked as a bank teller until June, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Ciudad de México Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,600 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $240 • Scans and lab work: $380 • Household costs while unable to work: $720 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,260 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Lorenzo
