Restoring the Liberty riverbank: a volunteer-led project in Parramatta
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Liberty riverbank needs $1,750 for saplings and equipment.

The Liberty riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 112 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 173 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,750 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $300
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,200
• Signage and educational materials: $250

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Annabelle.
Tools and protective gear is $300 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Good question.
