Restoring Pioneer Creek: a volunteer-led project in Bogotá
A neighborhood-led restoration of Pioneer Creek needs $350 for saplings and equipment.
🇨🇴 Bogotá, Bogotá D.C., Colombia993 views
Pioneer Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 96 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 66 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $350 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $165
• Signage and educational materials: $50
• Native saplings and stakes: $135
Thank you so much.

Stay strong, Julián. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I have a 13 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Love from Spanish Town
Gave what I could, wish it was more. Thinking of Bogotá.
stay strong. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in Shinjuku this morning. Blessings
