Restoring Lotus Creek: a volunteer-led project in Yekaterinburg
Help us clean and replant Lotus Creek before the October planting window closes.
🇷🇺 Russia2,257 views
Lotus Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 106 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 55 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $900 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $450
• Tools and protective gear: $230
• Waste removal and skip hire: $190
• Signage and educational materials: $30
Thank you for reading my story.

How is Zlata doing now?
Stay strong. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
hope this works out for you. Greetings from San Jose.
Sending strength. Great idea, hope you get there. Take care.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. My neighbor in Vancouver donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Yekaterinburg.
Shared it with a few friends. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Yekaterinburg.
