My family left Syria 14 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Auckland. We're a family of six and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in August. I was a teacher in Syria, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $2,650 goes: • Winter clothing and school supplies: $300 • Rent deposit and first month: $2,100 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $250 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

  • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from Mérida.

    • You're not alone. Hope this works out for you. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Love from Nashik.

      • Praying for you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care.
