Rania is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in civil engineering at Durham Community College, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a library assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $5,400.
The registrar has said Rania can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Rania has a first-class average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Rania would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Rania isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Durham Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
