Plant 4,450 native trees around Sycamore Creek in Miami
Volunteers are restoring Sycamore Creek in Miami; $1,400 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇺🇸 United States2,741 views
Sycamore Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 38 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 161 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $240
• Native saplings and stakes: $500
• Tools and protective gear: $660
Glad we found this place.

This could happen to any of us. My husband and I read this together. Greetings from London
Thanks for sharing this, Nicolás. Gave what I could, wish it was more. God bless.
Stay strong, Nicolás. Great idea, hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Lahore.
