Plant 4,400 native trees around the Sycamore canal in New York
Help us clean and replant the Sycamore canal before the April planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world1,556 views
The Sycamore canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This February, 103 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 136 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,200 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $670
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,250
• Signage and educational materials: $280
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Thanks for sharing this, Weston. Great idea, hope you get there. We're a small family in Anaheim but we're thinking of you
thinking of you and your family. Your post was clear and honest. Wish I lived closer to Pokhara so I could bring a meal. Love from Mar del Plata.
