Plant 4,000 native trees around the Union riverbank in Haarlem
Volunteers are restoring the Union riverbank in Haarlem; $2,400 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

The Union riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This May, 55 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 123 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,400 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,500
• Tools and protective gear: $240
• Waste removal and skip hire: $540
• Signage and educational materials: $120

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. native saplings and stakes comes first ($1,500) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Fair thing to want to know.
