Plant 3,550 native trees around Sycamore Creek in Istanbul
Help us clean and replant Sycamore Creek before the October planting window closes.
🇹🇷 Istanbul, Istanbul, Türkiye525 views
Sycamore Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 100 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 102 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $650 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $480
• Tools and protective gear: $155
• Signage and educational materials: $15
Every share and every dollar helps.
Updates from Dilara
Small update. $195 so far, I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts.
Thank you all. We're at 6% now ($40). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for tools and protective gear is now scheduled.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($70 in total) the plan for signage and educational materials is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
